i bought this drawing from my friend, jason today. i love his stuff so much and am so glad to have one of my very own. this is called winter transmission. I’d like to imagine sitting by one of those trees — looking up to see this in the sky.
this is a planisphere i received for my birthday one year. i don’t get the chance to use it much…living in brooklyn -about all i see when i look up into the sky is black – blinded by a street lamp.
there is something about stars, and constellations, specifically that i find fascinating. i have been particularly interested in constellations in relation to how our thoughts form clusters. i like to imagine the physical arrangement of these thoughts. i read this book, In the Palaces of Memory by George Johnson. It is one of my favorites. It talks about neural circuits + how signals shoot along pathways to different areas of the brain reinforcing memories- maybe they create tiny little houses …anyway… the brain is really incredible! and sets of thoughts remind me of star constellations–innumberable, yet ordered in some weirdo way.
*and so….as far as that goes….a great song to listen to while thinking about stars: Billy Bragg & Wilco California Stars.* it’s a beauT.
