walking to my car saturday morning i got a text message from my friends ben and sonya — saying they were in brooklyn for two minutes en route to vancouver and could i meet them for coffee. i said indeed! i was able to pick up my library books and then headed straight to gorilla coffee to meet them (never been and i think they could use a mascot!) it smelled really great – and the coffee was delicious! i showed them my treehouse book, and while ben was buying us coffee, sonya told me about the wee houses!!–
then ben sat down and said that he knew of a couple who had decided to buy one but then opted to build their own mini house instead (i guess slightly more of a custom approach). anyway by this point i had finished my coffee (i had it black!) and was so excited to think someone was actually building a mini house! sheesh. i want one, too! we all thought maybe we could build houses for eachother, like the amish do…afterwards, i drove outta brooklyn and upstate. the ride turned out to be a beauty, patches of sun the whole way and i was glad. got my hair trimmed and watched my mom get her hair colored…never had seen that done before…pretty cooL..tedious!. this morning i visited my great-gram. she was in really good spirits which i was glad to see. i was nervous because she “escaped” the joint last week and fell on her face so it was a bit scraped and she was down and out. shot some video of her going on and on…which for some dang reason i can’t get off my camera now. i started an ewok drawing but got tired so took a nap….then made my drive home, stopping at the diner along the taconic. had some chicken and rice soup, leafed through my off the grid book and even ordered dessert! (they had a special irish sodabread pudding, which was mint green in color) delicious. i just feel like i could drive that stretch forever, and sometimes wish that my house was in the mountains off one of those roads -in one of those trees.
